THE PUPPIES ARE 8 WEEKS!!!!!!!!!

October 29, 2008

Guess what that means 🙂 We are very anxiously awaiting bringing our puppy home. Just a few more days. Bruno has been testing out all the toys in the house just to make sure they are in working order for his brother’s arrival. We have a slight idea of who we might be getting, but a final decision will be made once the evaluations are done. Any guesses on who we are getting? Who is YOUR favorite?

Here are some recent pictures.

In N Out Burger

October 29, 2008

Sooo some friends and us have discussed this whole idea of flying home with burgers from In N Out, but no one has done it. So some friends went to Vegas on their honeymoon this past week and we jokingly said “bring us back some burgers from In N Out” so they always love an adventure, so they came up with a plan on how to bring them back. They bought a cooler and had their conceriage freeze the ice packs. they got 10 burgers with cheese and onions and sauce on the side. put them in plastic bags and into the cooler. they checked the cooler with the luggage. the airline staff thought it was hysterical. they took a red eye into CT and a few hours later the burgers arrived!!!! guess what we had for dinner?

one funny part… the airline lost 3 out of their 5 bags. Thank-god the burgers werent lost!!!!!

soooooo it CAN be done! next time we will attempt fries too!

Two wedding, two weekends

October 29, 2008

I am a bit behind on the blog because we have been out of town. We had two out of town weddings two weekends in a row.

The first wedding was in hospitable state of Mississippi. Dan’s good friend got married. Everything was picture perfect. the food was incredible, the band was unbeliveable, the atmosphere was just perfect and the company was great. we truely enjoyed every moment of our trip.

Next was Dan’s brother’s wedding which was held where the bride grew up on the MA/RI border. His brother is the last of the siblings to get married. It was great to see some old friends and spend time with family. the weather turned out just perfect. We had a great time chatting, dancing and spending time with everyone. It was truely a special day.

On October 14th Puppies turned 6wks

October 15, 2008

Just another few weeks till our boy comes home. Plans have been may to go pick up our puppy. Many have been asking about a name for the puppy. We still havent determined that 100% yet. Depending on who we get in the litter we may keep the name the breeder gave the puppy. I will not know which puppy we are getting until the evaluations on the puppies are done just after they turn 8wks old.  I will keep everyone posted.

As promised….updated pictures.

A weekend to catch up on things

October 15, 2008
It was a weekend to catch up on things. The past few weeks have been very busy and the next few will be the same. We had this weekend to get a few things done. A Target opened down the street so we check it out on friday. i love target and im glad we have one very close by. Bruno also got to play with some friends at the park on friday. Saturday we both got our hair cut. When getting our hair cuts we noticed that a dog rescue set up next door to a puppy store in the strip center. This truly made my day!!!! My hairdresser told me the owner of the strip center runs a rescue and wants to promote rescuing dogs NOT buying a dog from a petstore(most come from puppymills)
Then Amanda need to shop for some new work clothes as well as get something to wear to the wedding festivities coming up. While I shopped dan stayed home and finished painting the front porch area. When I arrived home from shopping there was a new number on our house. well number was the same, but the sign with the numbers was different. A picture of the sign is below. I was beyond excited about!

Then we went and did a home visit for a puppy that is being fostered by a rescue. On the way we saw a hot air balloon take off from the park across the street from our house. I love this time of year in seeing hot air balloons. I got one very mediocre picture below.

Saturday night we re-arrange the living room furniture to make it more open and give the dogs more room to wrestle and play. This will not be a forever set up but we will try it for now.

Throughout the weekend we did lots of cleaning and Amanda did some cooking on Sunday. She made pumpkin bread for the 1st time and it came out really good.

We got a lot accomplished this past weekend.

Macaroni and Cheese

October 8, 2008

Mac and Cheese seemed like a great option for dinner tonight, although i didn’t want to make it from a box sooooooooo i made a homemade one. it was totally thrown together with what i had on hand. I didn’t measure so measurements are only guesses, but as always adjust the recipe to your taste.

1/2 a box of small shell pasta

1 teaspoon of butter

3oz of milk

1/4 cup of cheddar cheese cut up into pieces

2 slices of Velveeta cheese

A few sprinklers of parmesan cheese

Onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper to your taste

1 tablespoon of breadcrumbs

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Cook pasta as directed on box.  Meanwhile cut up cheddar cheese and gather other ingredients. Drain pasta and return to pan and place on stove. Keep the burner on the lowest setting. Add in all ingredients to pasta EXCEPT for the breadcrumbs. Put a cover over the saucepan to help the cheese melt. Once the cheese is melted, stir and add a little more milk if needed.  Grease a 9×9 baking dish (or whatever size you would like)* and pour the macaroni mixture into pan. Sprinkle with more parmesan cheese and breadcrumbs. Bake in oven for 10-15 minutes until the top is crunchy, slight brown and the edges bubbling (watch to make sure it doesn’t burn).  I served over some cut up cooked shrimp.

*might be tasty in small individual dishes

Fall is in the air

October 8, 2008

The weather is cooling down, especially at night.  Friday night we went to a new restaurant call Counter Burger, it was really good. Saturday amanda headed to a hunt test with a friend for a couple hours to try and learn a few things and then to a party with Dan’s family. We spent most of Saturday afternoon and evening at Dan’s father’s lake house. It was a nice time, very relaxing. We took the little boat out to the island and let bruno run around. he has such a good time. We are dogsitting a friend’s lab who loves to go swimming and jump off the dock. She had a chance to show off her dock jumping skills to everyone at the party. Later in the day we sat around the fire and chatted into the evening. Sunday dan had to DJ and play music at our neighbors daughter’s wedding. We have a wonderful neighbor who was VERY helpful in aiding Dan to put up our fence last fall, along with helping us with various other things. Dan was glad to be able to return the favor and help our neighbor on his daughter’s special day.  Once again it was a busy but enjoyable weekend.

wonderful weekend

October 2, 2008

This past weekend we went to visit amanda’s family.  he hit a lot of traffic on the ride up and drove pouring rain. we had a great time seeing everyone and spending time with them. Bruno had a sensory overload as usual and acted like a nut. i think he found a new friend named fred. after we got home from my mom’s house he curled up on the couch with fred, like he was his BEST friend. he even groaned when i tried to move him. it was a rainy and humid weekend so we were inside most of the time. my mom’s cooking was wonderful, especially the salad she made.  i only wish we could see my family more often, but i will see them again in another few weeks.
